It’s no secret that many consider the audio of a Tiktok an essential aspect of the overall experience. According to TikTok, 73% of users stop scrolling to view ads with audio and 50% say that the content becomes much more entertaining with sound. Also, users are eight-times more likely to associate a brand with the unique audio used in its content, rather than other components like the slogan or logo. That said, knowing how to find trending music on Tiktok opens the door for tremendous growth on the platform and beyond.
Ways to find trending music on TikTok
There are a variety of ways to go about identifying trending audio.
1. For You page
The For You page is one of the most significant features of the app. It allows users to view popular videos from accounts they may or may not follow. Each person’s For You page will have different content since it’s based on that particular user’s likes and interests. However, a large portion of these videos are viral and could potentially become trending sounds. This requires no additional effort since scrolling the For You Page is what most people do while using the app. Simply scroll and take notice of the sounds that come up over and over again and eventually you’ll realize what’s trending.
2. TikTok’s search bar
For those who’d rather just cut to the chase, the TikTok search function makes it easy to do so. Once the app is open, click the search button (which looks like a magnifying glass) at the top right part of the screen. In the search bar, type in “viral sounds”, “trending sounds” or something similar and from there, recent trending sounds will be listed. Another way is to type in the same thing, but instead, look at the videos that come up, and see what sounds are being used in those. There’s also the option to search for challenges and see what songs are used in the videos.
3.TikTok’s sound library
TikTok also has a sound library that can be scrolled. To access it, Click the + sign at the bottom of the screen, which is used for posting, and then click “Add Sound.” At the top will be sounds that TikTok recommends for that specific user, and farther down will be playlists and songs organized by genre. The Creative Center feature requires a business account to access and use. It allows people to view the most popular songs, along with the option to view by region. Clicking on a song will display its overall performance for the past week.
5. TikTok sound finder
Various apps assist in pinpointing trending songs, such as TrendTok, vidIQ Viral, RealTrends, etc. These apps monitor and collect data from TikTok, reporting things such as trending songs and other details, like the number of times it’s been played, used, the top countries using it, and more.
Spotify is a great place to find music that’s trending on TikTok. To find them, type “TikTok” in the Spotify search bar then click “playlists.” From there, various user-created playlists of trending songs will come up. TikTok itself also has a playlist with the latest trends, grouped by region.
Search “trending Tiktok songs”, or something similar in YouTube’s search bar, and many results will appear. There are accounts like “TikTok Tunes” and “Love Life Lyrics” that stay up to date with and post the most apparent audio trends.
8. Billboard Hot 100 chart
Many of the songs featured on the Billboard Hot 100 chart tend to also perform well on TikTok. According to TikTok, “More than 175 trending songs on TikTok in 2021 were featured on that list. This is twice as many as the previous year — an indication that perhaps more trending sounds on TikTok this year will also be featured on their charts.”
9. Creator recommendations
There are now influencers who share what the trending sounds are for that week. They tend to identify the sound and list ideas for content in test on-screen. Find them through hashtags such as #trendingsound, #trendalert and #soundsforcontentcreators.
